Jane Van De Hey's 2005 budget included $12,000 in revenue for fees to be assessed to Oshkosh Youth Soccer and rugby teams for the use of County Park. This revenue was removed from the 2005 budget by Mark Harris District 24 County Board Supervisor. The resolution was supported by a majority of the board.
The assessment of fees for use of County Park is especially inappropriate because Oshkosh Youth Soccer Club (OYSC) has thousands of young participants drawn from Oshkosh, Omro, Winneconne and all the townships surrounding these communities. It must also be noted that OYSC stripes the fields, provides the goals, built the shelter, and provides the park with a $2,000 annual contribution to plant trees. Other groups are free to use those fields, without charge, whenever they are not in use. To single out a group that has contributed so much to the park for a user fee seems very foolish.
