Mark Harris received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with distinction from the University of Michigan in 1977. He then worked for a CPA firm, Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) until returning to Ann Arbor to earn his law degree (J.D.) at the University of Michigan Law School. Mark received his Michigan CPA certificate in 1979 and was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1982. He practiced law and worked as a trust officer in Indianapolis Indiana for several years before moving to Wisconsin. He has worked as a Trust Officer and a Vice President of Associated Trust Company since 1995.
Mark lives with his wife Susan and three sons in Oshkosh where he has served on the city council since 1999. He currently serves as Mayor (council chairman) and also serves as the District 24 Winnebago County Board Supervisor representing part of the Town of Algoma and part of the City of Oshkosh. Mark has elected not to continue to serve on the Oshkosh Council when his term as councilman and Mayor expire April 2005. This will allow Mark to focus on his role in Winnebago County Government.
What the County's news organizations are saying about Mark Harris:
"Mark Harris, mayor of Oshkosh and a county board member is polished, professional, well-educated and experienced in both business and local government.
You can't ask for much more."
-Appleton Post-Crescent March 27, 2005
"Harris exhibits the leadership skills, financial smarts and ability to build consensus with the county
board that have been sorely lacking on critical decisions in recent years.
Harris has the management style,
rational approach, poise, business-like acumen and financial background that make his
timing on the county political scene more important than ever."
